1－1．大学教員としての授業実践

·English communication classes have been conducted using all English which necessitates that student use English for communication
·Lessons have been task-based with a lot of group work, requiring students to use English in class. Authentic material has been used whenever possible to increase students’ motivation and provide real-life, realistic input
·In 小学校英語演習, has been similar to a content-based English class, focusing on various issues in ‘teaching English as a foreign language’. Students have read authentic material and encountered the same vocabulary several times in the reading/lectures and group work in class. It is felt that this is a good way to learn both content knowledge and improve English ability.
·In 初等英語教育, the focus was on teaching practice. Various activites were introduced which had been conducted previously with elementary school students. Material was also introduced by showing video of elementary school classes. The goal was to bring the authentic elementary school English class experience into the University setting. It is fel t that this aim was achieved.
1－2．大学教員としての社会貢献
(1)目標・計画
·I have developed a strong working relationship with the 教育研究所 in Naruto City and will continue to observe lessons and provide advice at elementary schools in the Naruto and Tokushima area.
·I will also continue working with ALTs in Naruto and Tokusima prefecture.
Other contributions will include:
·Conducting interview tests for the “英検 STEP Test” Participation at Forums and 公開講座 conducted by the 小学校英語教育センター.
(2)点検・評価
·I have continued my involvement at the local and prefectural level, as well as visiting elementary schools in other prefectures to view lessons and provide teacher training.
·I have continued my work as a interviewer for the 英検 STEP test and assisting with our Center activities
·The Center for English at elementary schools also carried out Forms and “open school” lessons, which I assisted with (particularly the open school lessons).
2．分野別
2－1．教育・学生生活支援
(1)目標・計画
The following initiatives will be taken to help improve students’ practical communicative abilities in English outside of English classes.
·Hold a voluntary ‘English club’ class once a week to improve their practical communicative ability in English.
·Hold “movie nights” where we will watch English movies with the aim of improving listening ability as well as developing cultural knowledge.
·Help graduate students by proofreading their English writing and thesis writing on a request basis..

·I have continued voluntary English communication sessions, primarily with graduate level students
·I assisted several graduate students with their English thesis writing.
·I also became involved with the “friendship program” with University of Puget Sound, assisting students with their preparation to travel to the United States, and then accompanying them to Washington State where they taught about Japanese culture at an American elementary school. I focused specifically on helping them to develop their lessons. I was very satisfied with the outcome of the program.
2－2．研究
(1)目標・計画
I have been conducting research on communicative testing of young learners for the past two years. During the next academic year, I will be examining the results of this research and presenting my conclusions. I hope to present the results at national-level conferences in the coming academic year, specifically:
·全国英語教育学会 in August, 2010.
·JALT in November, 2010.
(2)点検・評価
·I continued the research mentioned above and have presented at a JALT chapter meeting in the summer (instead of the 全国英語教育学会)
·My presented another aspect of the research at the JALT International Conference in Nagoya in November, 2010.
2－3．大学運営
(1)目標・計画
I am on the 言語系（英語）コースレクリエーション係. Movies will be shown at the 小学校英語教育センター as mentioned above. Occasional parties will be planned in the evening and I also hope to encourage involvement in sports at the University such as swimming and soccer.
(2)点検・評価
·I have also been involved in the music circle and organized two concerts at a local venue in Naruto City in which several student bands participated and many students came to participate in.
2－4．附属学校・社会との連携、国際交流等
(1)目標・計画
I will continue team teaching and providing advice for teachers at 附属小学校. I usually spend two days per week at the elementary school helping teachers and overseeing the English program at the school.
I will also continue my involvement with international students. I will assist international student in a variety of ways including their academic endeavors such as thesis writing, as well as helping them in their daily lives.
My contributions to 「社会との連携」 include school visits to schools in Tokushima prefecture and other areas (as outlined above) and participation in 公開講座.
(2)点検・評価
·I have visited schools in Tokushima prefecture and other areas (as outlined above) and participation in 公開講座.
·I assisted international students with their research and met with two students in particular once a week through the autumn of last year to help them develop their research.
·I have assisted the teachers at 附属小学校 with their English activities.
·I guest lectured for the international students, speaking about English at elementary schools in Japan.
