After working at a public nursery school in Japan for five years, I worked in a kindergarten in Ethiopia as a Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer. My interest in education in Japan and international educational cooperation during my activities was my motivation to go to graduate school. Global Education Course allows me to spend time with international students and enjoy international exchange in my campus life. Of course, I can improve my English skills. Through the international exchanges, I learned about overseas and reviewed about Education in Japan, so there were opportunities to learn not only academic knowledge and skills, but also various practical topics.

I feel really grateful with the opportunity granted to me to study at the Naruto University of Education. My experience at the university was quite good despite of the COVID-19 situation, and I could improve and increase my learning and my professional skills in mathematics education and educational research. One of the things that I enjoyed the most is that I could expand and deepen my expertise in different concepts of mathematics education research as academic field, and now I feel that I have a better experience and mastery of concepts such as formative assessment, problem solving approach, teachers’ professional development, curriculum and textbooks development, design of education materials including the use of ICT, and in conducting research as a general topic. Also, I could realize the interest of the university in enhancing and fostering the international cooperation of Japan to the developing countries. When I return to my country, I know that I will be able to help to the improvement of the mathematic learning of Salvadoran students and support the mathematic education policies by utilizing the experience obtained during my master degree on Global Education Course.
Ms. Kaede Watanabe(graduated in March 2021)
Hello everyone! When I was an undergraduate student, I became interested in education in developing countries after volunteering in Cambodia, and wrote my undergraduate thesis on "Current Situation and Issues in Development Education". As I researched various issues in developing countries, I became particularly interested in the low enrollment rate of girls in school, and I strongly felt that I wanted to deepen my research and become a person who can help make the world a place where children can receive an equal education. Since entering this course, I have been studying international cooperation and international education together with international students and many other students with rich personalities. After completing the course, I would like to become a teacher who can teach international understanding and development education. Why don't you join us and think about international education in this wonderful environment?

I have always believed that you cannot improve in a country's language without understanding its culture. Therefore, when I looked for a graduate school, I decided to go to Naruto University of Education, which emphasizes both language education and culture. At Naruto University of Education, in addition to the Japanese language teacher training program, students can also experience various aspects of Japanese culture. In addition, there are supplementary Japanese language courses for international students from beginner to advanced levels. Students can hone their skills as Japanese language teachers from three perspectives: learning as a student, gaining experience as an observer, and teaching as a teacher. Many of my classmates are current teachers or have experience as Japanese language teachers, so we can share our experiences with each other and learn from each other. I would like to continue my studies in Japanese language education as a graduate research student at Nagoya University of Foreign Studies in preparation for entering the doctoral program. If you are interested in Japanese language education and international communication, I recommend this course.

Hello everyone. I entered graduate school after completing the 420-hour Japanese language teacher training course. The purpose of entering the graduate school was for research. I did not want to interrupt my dream of starting a career as a Japanese language teacher, so I continued to work as a part-time teacher for two years. In the graduate school classes, there were many opportunities for group work and presentations, and it was a continuous process of collaborative learning. The experience of working together, transcending differences in age and nationality, made me realize anew the joy of learning and the benefits of diversity. I was sometimes worried about whether I would be able to finish the program, since I had to juggle childcare, work, and graduate school, but with the kind support of the professors, I was able to give it my all and finish the program. The lessons I learned and experiences I gained here are still useful in my current job. To those of you who are wondering whether or not to enroll in graduate school, why don't you give it a try?
Ms. Hellen Wamingi (graduated in March 2019)

I worked in Samoa as a Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV), and after returning Japan I worked as a Japanese high school teacher. After that I decided to enroll in the graduate school of Naruto University of Education, because I want to work again in the field of international cooperation. The most attractive point of the Global Education Course is not only learning specialized knowledge of international cooperation in class, but also learned practically by actually visiting developing countries and seeing teachers' professional work up close. I was worried about my language ability before enrolling, but I was able to greatly improve it through daily classes and spending time with international students. Currently, I am working as an ODA consultant and am working for a JICA technical cooperation project as a Math Education Specialist. I would like to make use of what I have learned at Naruto to become a specialist who can contribute to the development of education in various countries.

Ms. Azusa Kami(graduated in March 2019)
I want to learn about Japanese language education! It was during my undergraduate years that I began to think, "I want to learn about Japanese language education! It all started when I taught Japanese to international students. I encountered many situations in which I could not teach Japanese well, which is my mother tongue, and I felt very frustrated. At the same time, I became interested in Japanese language education and wanted to study it professionally, so I decided to enter graduate school. Since entering graduate school, I have been taking classes related to Japanese language education, working as a Japanese language supporter for foreign students in Tokushima Prefecture, belonging to a club that teaches Japanese to foreigners living in Naruto, and participating in a Japanese language teaching internship in the Kyrgyz Republic, in order to apply what I experienced as an undergraduate and what I learned in my graduate classes. I am making daily efforts to make use of what I have experienced during my undergraduate years and what I have learned in my classes at the graduate school. The graduate school of Naruto University of Education offers many opportunities to engage in activities related to Japanese language education, not to mention the excellent classes given by attractive teachers. For those who are interested in learning about Japanese language education, this is the most attractive place to be.

When I first entered the university, I could barely speak English, but I enrolled in the university because I wanted to study global education in the master's program. During my undergraduate years, I read a book by a JICA volunteer and learned that many Japanese people were cooperating in various fields, which inspired me to pursue my dream of contributing to the world. During my studies at our university, I made many foreign friends and was able to build lifelong relationships with people from all over the world. In this course, I learned how to cooperate with people from other countries, participated in many projects, and felt connected to other countries even through the Corona Disaster. Our university staff is highly motivated to do their best to help students grow. In addition, classes are offered in both Japanese and English, allowing students to find the right course of study for them. After my graduate studies, I have been selected to be sent to Senegal as a JICA volunteer. I am happy to be able to realize my dream that I had when I first enrolled in the program. In the future, I would like to be involved in international cooperation and make use of the knowledge I have gained at this university!

I have been interested in experiencing different cultures since I was a child and gradually decided to enter this course to hone my expertise in order to work on global social issues. In this course, I have friends from diverse backgrounds with different nationalities, generations, and cultures. We are able to learn from each other's perspectives, our own countries' perspectives, the perspectives of our specialized fields, and our personal perspectives, and we are able to learn through our daily lives. In my research, I was not able to go to the field because of the Corona Disaster, but through my interactions with international students, I was able to gain a realistic understanding of the current situation in their countries. Unexpected things happen, things that are not taken for granted, and many other things happen, but one of the charms of this program is that it changes the way you look at things and makes life more fun and interesting! I want to be involved in international cooperation! I want to experience multiculturalism at the same time! I want to rethink educational issues! I recommend this program to anyone who wants to be involved in international cooperation and experience multiculturalism at the same time! After completing the program, I will work as a coach for rowing, which is my specialty. In the future, my goal is to work in the field of international cooperation to help individuals and communities become self-reliant from a human development standpoint.

After studying Japanese language education at Naruto University of Education graduate school, I was working at a Japanese language school in Yokohama. My main work included lectures on Japanese, lectures for preparation of Japanese Language Proficiency Test and counseling on essay writing and interview for university entrance exams. Through this work, I was able to tell my students directly what I had experienced through my education in graduate school. While I was a graduate student, I had opportunities to teach Japanese to other international students and foreigners living near Naruto City. This experience made me understand learners with various backgrounds and helps my current work at language school. I would like to continuously make use of what I learned at the graduate school and provide support to make international students' dreams come true.

I majored in international trade in college and studied the differences in business culture in trade negotiations between China and Western countries. In doing so, I had the opportunity to come into contact with international understanding education and became interested in it. I also decided to enter the Global Education Course at the Naruto University of Education, because the career I had most longed for since childhood was that of a teacher. I am currently conducting comparative research on the curriculum and practices of international understanding education in Japan and China. I have also been able to meet very kind teachers and good classmates, and my campus life is very fulfilling. In addition to learning Japanese every day, I have been able to improve my English skills by interacting with international students from diverse countries. I learn about a wide range of educational issues and experiences at the weekly research presentations. I feel that I am gaining practical and real-world experience in international understanding education through this kind of student life. As someone who wants to become a teacher in the future, entering Naruto University of Education was a major turning point in my life and a new starting point.
