Apart from the many opportunities for overseas research and volunteer activities the Global Education Course offers, daily student life itself is a place of international exchange with the presence of international students from various countries on campus. Following programs are currently conducted:

  • Overseas research surveys and activities through global teacher training program (overseas study scholarship program)
  • Japanese language teaching practicum at overseas through global teacher training program (overseas study scholarship program)
  • JICA training, support of various projects and observation tours
  • Participation in JICA short-term volunteer dispatch program
  • Short-term study abroad in a partner universities
  • Accepting and providing guidance of international students from partner universities
  • International students Party

Teachers and students of the course participate in various international cooperation activities in collaboration with the Center for International Cooperation for Teacher Education of our University. Since the number of contracts for training in Japan in the field of education in JICA is larger than that of other universities, we engage with staff and faculty members of Education Ministries from almost all over the globe including Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, Oceania, etc. on training and technical cooperation activities. Language is not limited to English; we also have activities that correspond to various languages such as French, Portuguese, Spanish, as well as regional languages. In particular, the following activities are conducted:

  • JICA training (about 5 to 6 on-campus sessions a year)
  • Participation in JICA technical projects (Technical Programs, Grassroots Projects, etc.)
  • JICA short-term volunteer program
  • Implementation of a Global Lesson Study (GLS) program between Singapore elementary schools and attached elementary schools
  • Support by dispatched JICA trainees and foreign students for foreign language activities at attached elementary schools
  • Support for community school activities
  • Learning support and activity support for elementary and junior high schools
  • Various learning and everyday support for students with kinship roots in foreign countries
  • Holding a Japanese language education workshop to support Japanese students returning home and foreign students (co-organized with the Tokushima Prefectural Board of Education)
  • Cooperation with Tokushima Prefectural Shirasagi Junior High School
  • Participation in Naruto University of Education “Educational support lecturers & advisors dispatch program” (This system is for dispatching faculties to schools in the prefecture and neighboring areas for to give classes and provide consultation services)

Faculties of the Global Education Course have been engaged in research activities and exchanges with collaborators in various regions and countries. Students are also guaranteed opportunities to participate to improve their research capabilities. Specific activities are as follows:

  • Research activities and exchanges related to lesson studies in science and mathematics
  • Research activities and exchanges between Singapore and Japanese elementary schools related to Global Lessons Study (GLS)
  • Study and exchange of research findings regarding school administration inside and outside Japan
