                  Position Opening for Lecturer or Associate Professor

 

1. Affiliation: Advanced Practice of School Education (School Subjects Education), Arts Education (Art)

 

2. Job type and the number of positions: One full-time Lecturer or Associate Professor

 

3. Area of Expertise: Painting

 

4. Qualifications:

 (1) Doctorate or the equivalent research achievements in the field concerned, and teaching abilities

       NB: The successful candidate is expected to teach the Ph.D. program at the Joint Graduate School in the near future.

 (2) Those who can actively engage in teacher training

 (3) The ability to collaborate with teachers at schools on educational research

 (4) Active participation in university operations and professional contributions to society

 (5) Japanese ability necessary to perform duties at Naruto University of Education, irrespective of the successful candidate’s nationality

    (6) A person who can be in charge of the collaborative teaching profession course and the distance education program in

     teaching profession graduate school

 

5. Courses to teach:

  Undergraduate classes: PaintingⅠ,Painting PracticeⅠ,Art and CraftsⅠ,Painting Materials,Drawing,Graduation Study, and others

  Graduate classes: Seminar on School Subject Content for Teaching Arts and Crafts (Art) A,Seminar on Material Development

                                   for Teaching Arts and Crafts (Art) B,Fieldwork for Subject Education,Studies on Educational Practice I(Art), and others


 

6. Date of Employment: April 1, 2025

 

7.  Length of Contract, etc.:The initial contract is for five years, with the possibility of tenure. 

                 (The mandatory retirement age is 65.)

 (1) Curriculum vitae (using the designated form with the applicant’s photo attached)

 (2) List of professional achievements (using the designated form)

 (3) Three principal publications (books and/or articles); in any form of original, offprint, or photocopy

    A summary of each in Japanese (approximately 200 characters) is required.

 (4) Photos, collected self-written documents, etc., of your major craft works presented or exhibited

   (5) Five commentaries on major craft works presented or exhibited (free format, A4 size sheet)

        (Write in Japanese with approximately 400-character comments on each of your five important craft works

         presented at exhibitions, contests, etc.)

   (6) Teaching and research aspirations at Naruto University of Education in Japanese (approximately 1,000 Japanese characters)

12. Additional information:

   (1) It is recommended that the successful applicant live in the vicinity of Naruto once employed.

   (2) The application materials will not be returned. If the applicant wishes to have them returned,

            he/she must request so beforehand in writing. The personal information the university has acquired in the selection process

            will be treated confidentially according to the Act on the Protection of Personal Information to be Held by

             Independent Administrative Institutions.

   (3) During the selection process, finalists will be invited for an interview with a teaching demonstration at the university. Finalists’ travel and

           accommodation expenses for the interview will not be reimbursed.

   (4) The university has a policy for recruitment in which the decision is not to be influenced by applicants’ nationality or gender.

            In case of two or more finalists are equal in qualifications and achievements, the university will give preference to female applicant.

   (5) Even if the successful candidate is a local government employee prior to employment at the university, the university will not count

            his or her years of service as a local government employee in the calculation of his or her retirement allowance from the university.
