本学は、未来の社会の担い手である全ての子供の可能性を引き出す学校教育の実現をめざし、教師として主体的に学ぶ力を有し、子供の多様性や教育課題の複雑さに対応した教育実践を創り出していく教師（創造的実践者としての教師）の養成を目的としています。
この目的を達成するために、修学の成果と認定に係る基準として学士課程における学位授与の方針（ディプロマ・ポリシー）を次のように定めます。
学生は、本学の教育課程において、所定の単位を修得し、以下に示す教師として必要とされる資質・能力の基礎を身に付けていると判定されることが求められます。

（１）教師としての構え

倫理観・使命感・人権意識・子供観・学習観など、専門職としての教職に必要な特性・態度を備えている。

（２）教師として必要な基礎的知識

幅広い教養や探究心に裏打ちされた、領域・教科及び教職に関する専門的な知識や現代社会の諸課題に関する知識を有し、教育実践に結びつけていくことができる。

（３）教師として必要な基本的技能

公正・的確な情報の収集・活用に支えられた子供の実態の把握や内面の理解を基盤にした個人指導力・集団指導力を有し、子供の能動的な学習への取組を支援・指導できる。

（４）教師として必要な実践的指導力

多様な子供の特性や状況等を理解し、学習指導及び生徒指導の構想・展開・評価の能力を有し、教育実践における多様な場面に応じた支援・指導ができる。

（５）社会で活用できる汎用的な能力

教職の基盤として、さまざまな課題に向き合い、他の人々とともに解決に向けて取り組む上で必要とされる汎用的な能力を有している。

Based on the idea that education should bring out the full potential of children who carry our future society, Naruto University of Education aims to educate students to be teachers as an innovative practitioner who are capable of continuously learning for themselves as a teacher and creating teaching practice adapted to the students’diverse capabilities and the increasingly complex challenges of education.’
In order to achieve this goal, we have established the following diploma policy for the undergraduate program, as a standard for the certification of learning outcomes.
Students are expected to acquire the prescribed credits in the university’s academic program as well as the following basic abilities and attributes required as a teacher:

(1) A teaching attitude

 Students must build the traits and qualities needed for the profession of teaching, such as an ethical perspective, a sense of duty, a respectful attitude towards human rights and a good overall insight into the children’s needs and the learning process. 

(2) Basic teaching knowledge

Students must possess specific knowledge regarding the different subjects and disciplines they will teach, as well as the teaching profession itself and the educational challenges that the current society presents, and must be able to apply them in class based on their inquiring minds and rich education. 

(3) Basic teaching skills

Students must acquire the ability to instruct the children both individually and as a group, on the basis of accurate information about their particular conditions and circumstances, and must be capable of guiding their efforts toward active learning. 

(4) In-class teaching skills

Students must take into account each child’s unique traits and circumstances, possess the ability to devise, develop, and assess childcare and teaching, and adapt to the diverse situations that arise naturally during teaching. 

(5) General skills that can be utilized in society

 Students must possess the general skills required to face challenges and work alongside other people to conquer them, as these skills constitute the foundation of their profession.
