In this study, Emotional Intelligence Scale for adults(EQS)(Uchiyama, Shimai, Utsugi, and Otake, 2001)was reviced in consideration of the elementary school children’s life scene, and Emotional Intelligence Scale for children(EQS?C)that consisted of 38 items was made. EQS?C and Five Factor Personality Inventory for Children(FFP?C)(Soga, 1999)were carried out in the elementary school of 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, and effective answers were received from 178 children. The results were as follows. All the 12 factors of EQS?C were correlated positively with the cooperation factor and the control factor of FFP?C. On the other hand, the 3 factors in the 5 factors in the intrapersonal section of EQS?C and the 4 factors in the 5 factors in the situational section of EQS?C were correlated negaitively with emotional instability factor of FFP?C. The α coefficient of Cronbach in EQS?C showed the value that exceeded 0.8 greatly in all three sections(intrapersonal, interpersonal, and situational). Next, the re?test of EQSC was carried out for the 105 children out of the 178 children of the above, and effective answers were received from 103 children. The results showed that the the reliability coefficient value exceeded 0.8 in all theree sections. Furthermore, EQS?C were carried out in the elementary school of the 6th grade 3 classes. The effective answers were received from 68 children, and the homeroom teacher of each class was asked with the rating by the teacher evaluation edition of EQS?C. The results showed that relations between the self?evaluation and the teacher’s evaluation by EQS?C was obtained from the viewpoint of statistics.
