日本の教育と文化：ちょんかけごま体験

鳴門教育大学では、教員研修留学生やJICA長期研修員を対象に、「日本の教育と文化」（前期：毎週火曜日２限）を開講しています。このクラスは、英語と日本語によるバイリンガル授業で、日本の教育制度・実践の概要を講義するとともに、地域の方々の協力を得て、さまざまな文化体験を取り入れています。

5月24日は、山本貞美先生（本学名誉教授）のご指導により、ちょんかけごまに挑戦しました。ちょんかけごまは、インドネシアにルーツを持つコマで、日本では熊本県で盛んだそうです。普通の日本のコマよりはかなり大型で、ひもで上下に動かします。山本先生をはじめ、アシスタントとして熱心に指導してくださった吉田さん、松本さん、奥谷さんのおかげで、全員、見事にコマを回すことができました。山本先生も、「15年くらい留学生に指導しているが、全員できたのは初めてのこと」と、驚いていらっしゃいました。

Japanese Education and Culture: Flying top

NUE offers a class titled "Japanese Education and Culture" for teacher trainees and JICA trainees, whose objectives are twofold: to give an overview of Japanese educational system and educational practices in English and Japanese, and to give cultural experiences through collaboration with community resource persons.

On May 24th, the students tried spinning Chon'kake Goma, a flying top under the instruction of Yamamoto Sadami-sensei (Professor Emeritus, Naruto University of Education). Chon'kake Goma is originated in Indonesia and travelled to Kumamoto, Japan. It is much bigger than many traditional Japanese tops, and we pull strings upward. Thanks to personalized coaching by Yamamoto sensei and three local assistants (Yoshida san, Matsumoto san, Okutani san), all of our students could spin tops. Yamamoto sensei was very amazed by saying, "I have taught this class for 15 years, but this is the first time that all participants were successful!" Nice Job!
