May 20, 1974 "The Comittee for University of Teacher Education with New Idea"at the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (MESC) prepared the report,"The Concept for New Undergraduate and Graduate University for Teacher Education."
November 1, 1978 "The Office for Arrangement to Establish Naruto University of Education"was set up at Administration Office of Tokushima University.
Professor YAMADA Kengo, President of Tokushima University, was Head of the office.
January 10, 1979 President OKA Yoshikane, Tokushima University became the Head of the Office.
April 3, 1980 Professor Emeritus MAEDA Yoshiaki, Osaka University became the Head of the Office.
April 14, 1981 "The Act for National School Establishment"was partially changed at 94 National Diet. The Naruto University of Education was established as a legal entity.
October 1, 1981 The Naruto University of Education was inaugurated. Professor Emeritus MAEDA Yoshiaki was installed as the president of the university.
Teacher Training Courses for Kindergarten and Elementary School, College of Education (Admission 200) were set up. (The enrollment started on 1986.)
Administration Office was established at the office of Tokushima University.
January 10, 1984 Humanity Hall, two dormitory buildings for single students and students with families were constructed.
March 15, 1984 University Hall was constructed.

August 31, 1993 Technical building for practice and experiments was constructed at the university attached lower secondary school.
November 26, 1993 Auditorium was constructed.
March 30, 1994 Training building for daily life practice was constructed at the university attached school for disabled children.
October 7, 1994 The building for Information Processing Center was constructed.
April 1, 1996 The university participated as a constituent school in the Joint Graduate School (Ph. D. Program) in the Science of School Education, Hyogo University of Teacher Education.
Dr. NOJI Junya was reelected as the president.
April 1, 1997 General Counselling Services Office was established.
April 1, 1998 Vice President and Professor MIZOUE Yasushi took office as the president.
April 1, 2000 Teacher Training Courses for Kindergarten and Elementary School, Teacher Training Courses for Lower Secondary School, reorganized into Teacher Training Courses, College of Education. (Admission 100)
March 15, 2001 The building for multipurpose activity was constructed at the university attached elementary school.

October 1, 2003 National University Corporation Laws ware implemented.
April 1, 2004 National University Corporation Naruto University of Education was formed.
Former Professor TAKAHASHI Hajime took office as the president.
April 1, 2005 The following centers were newly eatablished:
The Center for English Language Education at Elementary Schools,and the International Cooperation Center for the Teacher Education and Training.
The following centers were reorganized into new centers: The Research Center for School Education was reorganized into The Center for Collaboration in Community, The Training Center for Practical Skills was reorganized into The Research and Training Center for Practical Skills, The Information Processing Center was reorganized into The Advanced Information Research and Education Center, and The Health Management Center was reorganized into The Research, Education and Management Center for Mental and Physical Health.

Graduate School of Education
Fields of School Education, Special Needs Education, and Education for Specialized Subject Matter and Field were abolished. Human Education, Special Support Education, Education for Specialized Subject Matter and Field at the Graduate School of Education (Master Course) and Advance Practice of School Education at the Graduate School of Education (Professional Degree Course) were instituted.
January 1, 2009 Center for Education and Research on the Science of Preventive Education was constructed.
April 1, 2010 Professor TANAKA Yuzo was took office as the president.
The Graduate School of Education (Master Course), Education for Specialized Subject Matter and Field
International Educational Cooperation Course was renamed International Education Course.
The Division of Pre-service Teacher Training of the Center for Collaboration in Community, and the Research and Training Center for Practical Skills, were realigned into the Center for Educational Career Development; and the Division for Collaboration in Policy and Practice of the Center for Collaboration in Community was realigned into the Center for Collaboration in Community.
The Advanced Information Research and Education Center was realigned into the Center for Information Technology Services; and the Research, Education and Management Center for Mental and Physical Health was realigned into the Center for Health and Counseling Services.
April 1, 2011 The Teacher Training Courses of Elementary School Education for College of Education.
School Education Course was renamed Field of School Education Course.
